Ukraine's plan to close Russia's airspace — what we know
Ukraine wants to close Russia's skies and has a plan to do it. In an announcement on Sept. 1, President Volodymyr Zelensky gave few details about what it would entail, other than making clear it would involve lots of drones. Vitali Klitschko is a former world heavyweight boxing champion who has served as Kyiv's mayor since 2014. Born on July 19, 1971, Klitschko remained in Kyiv during Russia's assault on Kyiv in 2022, coordinating civil defense and humanitarian efforts.
