Russian forces attacked a densely populated area of the city of Kharkiv with guided aerial bombs on Oct. 8, killing at least two people and injuring five others, local authorities reported.
"That is, the enemy's forces had superiority in tanks and infantry fighting vehicles, artillery systems, anti-tank weapons, and personnel," said Oleksandr Okhrimenko, commander of the 72nd Mechanized Brigade.
A Moscow court sentenced 72-year-old American Stephen James Hubbard to nearly seven years in prison for fighting in Ukraine as "a mercenary," Russian independent media outlet Mediazona reported on Oct. 7.

U.S. President Joe Biden may agree to advance the status of Ukraine's NATO membership bid before leaving office in January, the Financial Times (FT) reported on Oct. 1, citing an unnamed Western official.
According to Ukrainian military's Southern Command spokesperson Vladyslav Voloshyn, Russia does not have enough troops to launch a large-scale offensive.
