In response to France's European Minister Clément Beaune, Ukraine's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Oleh Nikolenko told European Pravda that Kyiv insists on receiving candidate status as early as June. "Ukraine is the only place in Europe where people defend European values at the cost of their own lives," Nikolenko said.
Russian forces launched a large-scale drone attack on the city of Odesa overnight on Dec. 30-31, striking residential buildings and leaving part of the city without heat, electricity, or water, local officials reported.
