Drone attacks define Russia's war against Ukraine, with both sides deploying unmanned aerial vehicles for reconnaissance and (long-range) strikes. Russia launches Iranian-designed Shahed drones in waves against Ukrainian infrastructure, while Ukraine regularly strikes Russian oil refineries and military bases. Ukraine has developed domestic drone production, including naval drones targeting Russia's Black Sea Fleet, since 2022.
