Russia has lost around 979,830 troops in Ukraine since the beginning of its full-scale invasion on Feb. 24, 2022, the General Staff of Ukraine's Armed Forces reported on May 24.
The number includes 1,130 casualties Russian forces suffered just over the past day.
According to the report, Russia has also lost 10,852 tanks, 22,622 armored fighting vehicles, 49,639 vehicles and fuel tanks, 28,201 artillery systems, 1,395 multiple launch rocket systems, 1,169 air defense systems, 372 airplanes, 336 helicopters, 37,177 drones, 28 ships and boats, and one submarine.

The meeting, described as "tense" by Bloomberg, included not just the EU wish for Ukraine to pass reforms, but also Kyiv criticizing a decision by EU countries that day to drop sanctions from two Russian oligarchs.
The attacks came on the same day that Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky warned Kyiv of the potential for a new large-scale strike by Russia, referencing intelligence reports.
Lavrov has arrived in New York to take part in the U.N. General Assembly, Russian state media reported. Rubio and Lavrov have met several times over the past year as the Trump administration has sought to broker an end to Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine.

In an interview with the Kyiv Independent, Latvian President Edgars Rinkevics said his government is preparing for cyberattacks, information campaigns, and possible disruptions by Russia.

"Last week, in honor of Senator Lindsey Graham, I signed a powerful new law passed by Congress, providing me with enormous new tariff authorities," Trump said in his address at the U.N. General Assembly in New York. "And, if necessary, I will have to use them. It's time to stop the killing."
