Ukrainian forces have "strengthened" their positions in Russia's Kursk Oblast as their operation in the Russian region continues, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi reported to President Volodymyr Zelensky on Aug. 17.
"In general, the situation is under control. All activities are being carried out according to the plan, the logistics system is working smoothly," Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said in a report to President Volodymyr Zelensky.
President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed in his address on Aug. 15 that Ukrainian forces had captured the entire Russian town of Sudzha in Kursk Oblast.
"Ukrainian forces in Kursk Oblast advanced 35 kilometers deep and control 1,150 square kilometers," Syrskyi said.
This marks the first time both President Volodymyr Zelensky and Ukraine's military leadership confirmed Ukrainian soldiers' presence on Russian soil.
The recent delivery of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine means there will be "more downed missiles and planes used by Russian criminals to attack Ukrainian cities," Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said on Aug. 4.
"During active hostilities, the tactical positions of the troops can change several times during the day. As of now, there have been no significant changes," Ukraine's Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said on Aug. 1.
The 59th Brigade is deployed near Krasnohorivka in Donetsk Oblast, a front-line town under heavy pressure by Russian forces.
Moscow currently fields some 520,000 troops in Ukraine and plans to raise this number to 690,000 by the end of the year, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi said in an interview with the Guardian published on July 24.
"In fact, active hostilities of varying intensity are taking place along the entire frontline," Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine's Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi said.
The radar station and launchers of the S-300 system were hit, Ukraine's Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said, sharing a video of the attack.
The announcement came only a day after Azovstal defender and medic Kateryna Polishchuk, known under the nickname Ptashka ("bird"), called on Oleksandr Syrskyi and President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate the unit over the alleged misconduct of its commander, Bohdan Shevchuk.

Russian troops are "completely bogged down" in street battles for the town of Vovchansk in Kharkiv Oblast, having suffered "very heavy losses," Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine's Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi said on May 23.

Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi's statement comes after his warning that the situation on Ukraine's eastern front "significantly deteriorated in recent days" as Russia has intensified its offensives in the east since last month's presidential election.
