Ukrainian Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Ruslan Strelets said in a televised interview on March 24 that more than 30 fires have been recorded in the area over the past two weeks. The International Atomic Energy Agency earlier reported on March 23 that it was informed by Ukraine that a forest near the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant was on fire.

The law allows the Russian president to order troop deployments abroad to "protect" Russian citizens facing arrest, detention, trial, or other perceived persecution by foreign nations and international courts.
"Recent Ukrainian gains have created an opportunity for peace, but the collapse of the recent ceasefire shows that leverage is needed for diplomacy to succeed," said Independent Rep. Kevin Kiley, who gave the final crucial signature.

Air raid alerts rang out across Ukraine as a massive swarm of attack drones crossed the Russian border shortly after 11:00 a.m. local time.
"By desecrating the bodies of fallen soldiers, the occupiers have once again demonstrated their sadistic nature and excessive, ostentatious cruelty. This is a gross, deliberate violation of the rules and customs of war."
Russia launched more than 800 drones in the mass attack on May 13, killing at least six people and injuring dozens more, including children. Ukraine's western Zakarpattia Oblast, home to a Hungarian minority, was among the areas targeted.
The new restrictions prohibit publishing text, photo, or video materials showing the aftermath of what officials described as "terrorist acts," including drone attacks.
The protections have been renewed yearly since it was first activated for Ukraine in February 2022, and though there is a feeling that a more permanent mechanism is needed, there is also a chance that it may be renewed a sixth time.
