Luhansk Oblast Governor Serhiy Haidai said on June 24 that Ukrainian forces will have to withdraw from destroyed city of Sievierodonetsk. "That is something we've been talking about. Do not spread rumors of betrayal. Nobody abandons our guys, nobody allows the encirclement (of our troops). The situation right now is as such that staying at these destroyed positions just for the sake of being there doesn't make sense," Gaidai said. At least 90% of the city's infrastructure has been destroyed.

Among the victims killed were two children, including a 12-year-old child, according to the State Emergency Service. It reported 45 people injured as of 4:30 p.m. local time.
"The Russians are losing five times as many soldiers a month as the Ukrainians are," U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said.
The bipartisan legislation would reaffirm U.S. support for Ukraine, expand sanctions against Russia, and authorize additional military and financial assistance for Kyiv.
"Russia must do everything in its power to secure an immediate ceasefire," Hungarian Foreign Minister Anita Orban said.
The size of Russia's drone component had grown by 28,000 over 2026, Brovdi said in an interview to Ukrainska Pravda published on May 14.
