As U.S. sanctions against Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich were to go out along with the sanctions from the U.K. and EU, President Volodymyr Zelensky asked U.S. President Joe Biden to hold off the measure, the Wall Street Journal reported citing unnamed sources. Zelensky allegedly said that Abramovich could be an intermediary in Russia-Ukraine peace talks.
The Aug. 28 call came after Russia launched a large-scale aerial strike on Ukrainian cities overnight.
At least 18 people were killed in the attack on the capital, including four children, authorities said. Three of them were aged 2, 14, and 17.
This marks the first time a vessel carrying fuel from the blacklisted facility has entered a Chinese import terminal.
The attack on the junction station occurred around 5 a.m. in Tver, a Russian city northwest of Moscow.

"Efforts to address the aftermath of the attack are ongoing. The majority of the crew are safe, and the search for several missing sailors continues," Navy spokesperson Dmytro Pletenchuk told the Kyiv Independent.
