The F-16 Fighting Falcon is a multirole fighter aircraft manufactured by Lockheed Martin and operated by over 25 air forces worldwide since its introduction in 1978. Ukraine began receiving F-16s from European partners in summer 2024 after prolonged diplomatic efforts to secure Western fighter jets capable of countering Russian air superiority. Ukrainian pilots completed training programs in Denmark, the Netherlands, and the United States.
