Polish President Andrzej Duda announced that a key priority of Poland's EU presidency in early 2025 will be the European integration of Ukraine and maintaining an "open door to Europe" policy for new members.
Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz noted that Poland was prepared to begin the training of Ukrainian volunteers in September, but a shortage of volunteers delayed the start.
"The president (Joe Biden) has made a commitment that the United States is not putting boots on the ground into Ukraine, but we are supporting Ukraine in their efforts to take back their sovereign territory," Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh said.
During the first days of the recruitment center's opening in Lublin, 138 applications for interviews were received through the website and another 58 through consular offices, according to the Defense Ministry.

The reasons for the cancelation were not specified. It is unknown if Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and Polish President Andrzej Duda planned to meet elsewhere on the campaign trail.
