Russia’s UN representative Dmitry Polyanskiy cited the alleged “warmongering” and “Russophobic policies” of EU leadership as the reason for the decision. Polyanskiy said that the EU was “actively trying to extinguish the fire of the Ukrainian crisis by pouring gasoline on it.”

A fire broke out at an oil depot in the Russian city of Penza following a Ukrainian drone attack overnight on Jan. 23.
