Scholz: EU leaders will try to get 27 yes votes to give Ukraine candidate status.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that giving Ukraine EU candidate status would be a sign of solidarity with a country that is fighting for freedom and democracy. The European Commission recommended giving candidate status to Ukraine on June 17, and the European Council is set to decide on Ukraine’s application on June 23.
