Russian strike damages US-owned Mondelez facility in Sumy Oblast

Russia struck a factory belonging to U.S. multinational food company Mondelez International in Sumy Oblast on Aug. 23, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said.
Two Russian drones hit the facility located in the city Trostianets, damaging the premises and injuring several employees, according to Sybiha. No fatalities were reported.
"Today, Russia once again struck a civilian facility in the Sumy region belonging to Mondelez International, a world-renowned American multinational corporation," Sybiha wrote on X.
Mondelez International is a large food and snack company whose brands include Oreo, Cadbury, Ritz, and Toblerone.
The foreign minister described the attack as part of a pattern of Russian strikes against business endeavors in Ukraine, calling them a "direct blow to American economic interests in Europe."
Sybiha called for increased military support for Ukraine, particularly additional air defense capabilities. He also urged the passage of the Sanctioning Russia Act, as part of efforts to increase economic pressure on Russia to end the war.
The city of Sumy is located around 30 kilometers (18 miles) from the Russian border. The region faces daily assaults from nearby Russian forces, including artillery, drone, and guided bomb strikes.
