Melitopol Mayor Ivan Fedorov said in a televised address on Oct. 8 that some cars have been stuck at the checkpoint in Vasylivka, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, for over 10 days awaiting entry into Ukrainian-controlled territory.
"What was once virtually unimaginable — shelling or other military activity taking place close to major nuclear facilities — has become a regular occurrence during this horrific war," IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said.
The trip marks European Parliament President Roberta Metsola's fourth visit to Ukraine's capital since the start of the full-scale war in 2022.
The attacks show that civilians remain a primary target in Russia's military operations.
"Ammunition, armored vehicles, fuel, and personnel bound for the front — as well as shipments to factories and depots in the north and east — passed through this junction," Atesh said.
"There were already three of them, and ahead... there are two more heavy offensive campaigns," President Volodymyr Zelensky said.
The number includes 1,020 casualties that Russian forces suffered over the past day.
Canada is set to appoint a Special Representative for the Reconstruction of Ukraine, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced.
"That would be a big mistake on our side, not to find the best way how we can integrate Ukrainian capabilities," Andrius Kubilius, the European Commissioner for Defense Industry and Space, told the Kyiv Independent.
"We discussed the issues of protection for Internally Displaced Persons (IDP), the work of the civil service during the war, security guarantees for Ukraine, and Ukraine's readiness for the peace process," party spokesperson Yuliia Paliichuk told Ukrainska Pravda.
Under its current plan, the EU aims to phase out energy purchases completely by the end of 2027.
"In my opinion, (the Russians) gave a signal... don't even think about providing Ukraine with additional air defenses. You may need to find a way to get it yourself," Zelensky said in an interview with Sky News.
