Ben Hodges, former commander of the U.S. Army in Europe, told CBS News that Russia is running out of time, ammunition and manpower as a "quick operation" turned into a war of attrition.
In Donetsk, a Russian ammunition depot was hit in a drone attack, with fires and explosions reported in the occupied city.
"We need Tomahawks for the United States of America too. We have a lot of them but we need them. I mean, we can't deplete for our country," Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. "I don't know what we can do about that."
