Kyiv launches ambitious plan to create 100,000 jobs for veterans

Ukraine will create 100,000 new jobs for veterans as part of a new program the government is working on, Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi said at the IX International Veterans Forum on Aug. 22 in Kyiv.
While Koretskyi did not give details about the program, he said that Kyiv has a clear strategy to create more opportunities for veterans.
He said the goal is ambitious and will involve state companies and private businesses, calling for all ministries, government agencies and communities to work together as a "single system."
He noted that veterans have exceptional skills and discipline formed during the war that other citizens do not have. The government’s task is to use that experience in the civil service, business and public administration, Koretskyi added.
Ukraine already has some 1.5 million veterans, while its active duty personnel number close to a million, but the country does not have a unified system to support them.
Kyiv’s first duty is to standardize more than 50% of veteran services by 2027 so that at least 80% of communities have a clear support mechanism, Koretskyi said.
"Veterans should receive the same support regardless of their region or hromada (municipality)," he stressed.
