Vitali Klitschko is a former world heavyweight boxing champion who has served as Kyiv's mayor since 2014. Born on July 19, 1971, Klitschko remained in Kyiv during Russia's assault on Kyiv in 2022, coordinating civil defense and humanitarian efforts. Relations between Klitschko and the President Volodymyr Zelensky's administration, however, have been strained during the full-scale invasion.
