After over a year of court hearings, attorneys defending three Ukrainian teenagers convicted of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in Zakarpattia Oblast have asked the court to close the case against them.
The Ukrainian government agreed to dismiss Zakarpattia Oblast Governor Viktor Mykyta from his post, Taras Melnychuk, the government's representative in the parliament, announced on Sept. 6. The decision must now be approved by the president.
Governor Viktor Mykyta said the missile was heading toward Zakarpattia Oblast from neighboring Lviv Oblast, and was targeted by the 650th separate anti-aircraft machine gun battalion.
The three men were stopped while attempting to cross the border from Ukraine's Zakarpattia Oblast, the westernmost region bordering Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, and Poland.
Hungary detained 32 Ukrainians who illegally crossed the border by a truck in Zakarpattia Oblast, State Border Guard Service spokesperson Andrii Demchenko said on national television on June 10.
The person's health "rapidly deteriorated" on May 23, upon which he was given first aid and medics were summoned, who could only declare him dead upon their arrival, the statement read.
