Ukrainian actor Serhii Strelnikov announced on Oct. 8 that he had enlisted in the Unmanned Systems Forces, calling it "an honor to be among these people."

"I am committed to learning, adapting to new conditions, and conscientiously fulfilling the duties entrusted to me," he wrote in an Instagram post.

According to Strelnikov, he has joined the Ferro-6 Unmanned Systems Battalion of the 9th Separate Unmanned Systems Brigade, which he described as "consisting at its core of soldiers with infantry combat experience who now locate and destroy the enemy from the air."

Strelnikov has starred in several critically acclaimed films in recent years, including the lead in the historical drama "Dovbush" (2023). The film is based on Oleksa Dovbush, a legendary 18th-century Ukrainian outlaw who became a folk hero in the Carpathian Mountains during the time of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth.

He also played Special Forces Commander "Sova" in the 2026 action thriller "Killhouse," based on a real-life rescue mission conducted by Ukraine's special forces. The Ukrainian Oscar Committee shortlisted the film as a potential submission for the country at the 2027 Academy Awards.

Many prominent figures from Ukraine's cultural sphere have enlisted in the Armed Forces of Ukraine since the start of the full-scale war to help defend the country against Russian aggression. Strelnikov's "Killhouse" co-star, Denys Kapustin, enlisted in the 3rd Assault Brigade after filming of the action thriller wrapped.
