Two export ships to leave Ukraine on Aug. 12

The aid will be the first use of the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL), a mechanism developed by NATO members and the United States to coordinate and fund Kyiv's most urgent battlefield needs.

The treaty provides for an increased British military support for Ukraine, allocating at least 3.6 billion pounds ($4.9 billion) per year until the fiscal year 2030/2031, the Ukrainian parliament said.

"I can't say right now that they (Russian troops) have all left Belarus, but I hope they will continue moving in the right direction," Ukraine State Border Guard Service spokesperson Andrii Demchenko said.

The government first presented the position last year to ensure soldiers had a mechanism to report violations of their rights.

The trip marks European Parliament President Roberta Metsola's fourth visit to Ukraine's capital since the start of the full-scale war in 2022.

In the recording, a Russian soldier is heard describing in detail the punishment of a serviceman who was captured near occupied Mariupol in eastern Ukraine after attempting to flee.

The event came after Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico's visit to China, where he attended the end of World War II celebrations as the only EU leader and met Putin.

"What was once virtually unimaginable — shelling or other military activity taking place close to major nuclear facilities — has become a regular occurrence during this horrific war," IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said.

The attacks show that civilians remain a primary target in Russia's military operations.

"Ammunition, armored vehicles, fuel, and personnel bound for the front — as well as shipments to factories and depots in the north and east — passed through this junction," Atesh said.

"There were already three of them, and ahead... there are two more heavy offensive campaigns," President Volodymyr Zelensky said.

The number includes 1,020 casualties that Russian forces suffered over the past day.

Canada is set to appoint a Special Representative for the Reconstruction of Ukraine, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced.

"That would be a big mistake on our side, not to find the best way how we can integrate Ukrainian capabilities," Andrius Kubilius, the European Commissioner for Defense Industry and Space, told the Kyiv Independent.
