Four foreign fighters killed in Ukraine.

The International Legion of Defense of Ukraine on June 4 wrote on Facebook that the foreign soldiers are from the Netherlands, Australia, Germany, and France. Their names are Ronald Vogelaar, Michael O’Neill, Björn Benjamin Clavis, and Wilfried Blériot. “We wish to remember and honor our fallen brothers, who traveled to Ukraine to join the bravest of the brave and fight shoulder to shoulder with the defenders of Ukraine,” the legion said.

Zelensky: Russian attack on monastery in Sviatohirsk, Donetsk Oblast, kills 4 people.

According to President Volodymyr Zelensky, four people were killed and another four were wounded due to the Russian attack on Sviatohirsk Lavra in Donetsk Oblast. About 300 people, including 60 children, were sheltering in the monastery, he said. Zelensky urged UNESCO to expel Russia from the organization as a response to its attacks on cultural heritage in Ukraine.

Polish deputy FM: EU already working on 7th package of sanctions against Russia.

In an interview with Polska Agencia Prasowa, Paweł Jabłoński said that the EU has already begun working on the seventh package of sanctions against Russia over its invasion of Ukraine. “Sanctions should be even tougher regarding the gas that Russia can still sell,” he said. The EU imposed a partial ban on Russian oil in the sixth sanctions package on May 30.

Zelensky urges US mayors to cut ties with Russian cities: 'Don't let the murderers call you their brothers and sisters.'

In an address to the U.S. Conference of Mayors, President Volodymyr Zelensky urged them to cut "brotherhood" ties with Russian cities and take part in "the largest economic project of our time" by helping to reconstruct Ukraine after the war. "Don't help it [Russia] justify itself. Don't maintain ties with it. And please do not allow those who have become murderers to call you their brothers and sisters," Zelensky said, adding that 3,620 Ukrainian settlements have been occupied by Russia since Feb. 24.

Ukrainian military shuts down Russian drone in Black Sea.

Odesa city council, citing Ukraine’s Operational Command South, reported that Ukraine shut down a Russian intelligence drone Forpost in the Black Sea. According to media reports, the Forpost drone is estimated at about $7 million. The General Staff earlier said that Russian forces are facing a shortage of drones and they have started using the ones owned by the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Macron warns against 'humiliating' Russia despite Putin's 'historic' mistake.

French President Emmanuel Macron said it is crucial that Russia is not "humiliated" so it would be possible to find a diplomatic solution after the fighting in Ukraine stops. "I am convinced that it is France's role to be a mediating power," he said, as quoted by Reuters. Macron has spoken with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin regularly since Russia began a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Russian mine kills three in Kherson Oblast.

Three civilians were killed by a mine planted by the Russian military on a beach in the occupied village of Lazyrne in Kherson oblast. The prosecutor’s office began a pre-trial investigation, treating the incident as a war crime and premeditated murder.

Ukrainian General Krasylnykov: We expected Russians to launch invasion from Donbas.

According to Dmytro Krasylnykov, the commander of Ukraine’s "North" Operational Command, the Ukrainian military thought that Russia would begin its full-scale invasion from the Russian-occupied territories of the Donbas. “Until the end, we believed that our enemy would not begin a large-scale invasion on all fronts, all lines. We hoped for the best, but prepared for the worst,” he added.

Ukrainian artist's painting sells for $120,000, part of proceeds to go to military.

A painting by Ukrainian artist Ivan Marchuk was sold at a charity auction Art Can Help organized by Kyiv-based Goldens auction house for $120,000. Come Back Alive charity, a partner in the auction, said this is a record sum for a painting by a living Ukrainian artist sold at a local auction. Half of the money raised from Marchuk's painting and 26 other art objects will be donated to Come Back Alive.

Official: Russian missile hits Odesa Oblast early on June 4.

Serhiy Bratchuk, a spokesperson for the Odesa Regional Military Administration, said in a video address that a Russian missile hit an agricultural building in Odesa Oblast. Two people are injured as a result of attack, according to the official.

Ukraine's State Emergency Service evacuates over 18 million people since Feb 24.

In 100 days of Russia’s all-out war, Ukraine's State Emergency Service reported that they have made 32,468 trips, extinguished 9,300 fires, rescued 1,397 people and neutralized 128,424 munitions, including 1,983 bombs. As of June 3, Ukraine's first responders evacuated more than 1.8 million people, including over 504,000 children and 32,000 people with disabilities.

Institute for the Study of War: Russia unlikely able to ‘accelerate’ war despite its claims.

The U.S. think tank said that, contrary to Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu’s claims about ramping up Russia’s war against Ukraine, it is unlikely that Russia will have the manpower and equipment to advance beyond Luhansk Oblast. Russian proxies in eastern Ukraine have also reportedly “not sufficiently prepared frontline units with medical supplies,” resulting in low morale and the refusal of some troops to return to the frontline.

Ukraine to request personal sanctions on 12,000 Russians.

Switzerland rejects requests to ship ammo, armored vehicles to Ukraine.

The Swiss government said it had rejected a request by Denmark to supply 22 Piranha III infantry fighting vehicles and a request by Germany to supply 12,400 rounds of ammunition for Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns, as well as for Piranha III vehicles. At the same time, Switzerland has allowed Germany to freely dispose of Leopard 2 tanks previously sold back to defense group Rheinmetall. Ukraine has previously urged Germany to supply Leopard tanks. Switzerland has usually banned the export of Swiss-made weapons to conflict zones due to its neutral status.

Ukrainian drones strike missile, drone arsenal in Russia's Bryansk Oblast.

Ukraine's military intelligence (HUR) struck on June 28 the 1060th Material-Technical Support Center in the city of Bryansk, Ukraine's General Staff said. The facilities store a Russian missile and drone arsenal, Ukrainska Pravda reported, citing a source in HUR.
