Inside a prison where Russia tortured Ukrainian POWs
The Olenivka POW camp, located in the Russian-occupied part of Donetsk Oblast, was a notorious Russian-controlled prison where Ukrainian prisoners of war and civilian hostages from Mariupol have been subjected to torture. The Kyiv Independent’s War Crimes Investigations Unit will name those responsible for torturing prisoners in Olenivka.

Anne-Marie Singh

Anne-Marie Singh is an Associate Professor of Criminology at Toronto Metropolitan University. A sociologist by training, her research interests include contemporary social and political theory, policing, security, and governance. Along with Matthew Light and Aaron Erlich, she is a co-investigator on a multi-year study of the evolution of public and citizen security in Ukraine, funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. She also has several digital projects that seek to engage the public in criminology.
