Ukrainian photographer born in Kyiv. Oleg holds a Master's degree in History and Archaeology from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (2014). He began his photojournalism career in 2009, freelancing for UNIAN, then worked at Ukrinform (2013-2016) and Kyiv Post (2017-2021). Since late 2022, he has been working with the European Pressphoto Agency. In early 2024, Oleg joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine and serves in the 24th Separate Mechanised Brigade named after King Danylo.

When Oleg Petrasiuk began taking photos in 2009, photography was only meant to be a side gig to earn some money while in college. Eventually, it became his life’s work. Kyiv had its first heavy snowfall of the season on the evening of Dec. 20, with 13 centimeters of snow rapidly covering the capital.
