About Ceasefire

The Kyiv Independent's coverage of ceasefire proposals and negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. Negotiations have occurred intermittently since the full-scale invasion began in February 2022, with major diplomatic efforts in Belarus, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates. Previous ceasefire following Russia’s annexation of Crimea and war in the Donbas in 2014 were formalized through the Minsk agreements, which ultimately failed to prevent Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022.
